Litigation Attorney

Full-Time | In Person | Vero Beach, Florida

Compensation: $85,000–$150,000 per year

We are looking for a Florida-licensed attorney who wants real ownership of their cases. At Collins Brown Barkett, Chartered, you would carry your own caseload and be the person your clients rely on — with experienced colleagues alongside you to offer guidance.

We are looking for someone motivated, a strong researcher and writer, and comfortable being the point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other advisers. If you are ready to take full responsibility for a client’s case, you will have the room to do it, and the support to do it well.

  • Managing a full and active caseload
  • Reviewing active case files, court appearances, filing deadlines, and upcoming due dates
  • Monitoring and responding to communications from clients, opposing counsel, and the courts
  • Reviewing and responding to settlement offers, discovery requests, correspondence, and other case-related communications
  • Tracking the status, deadlines, priorities, and next steps for each matter
  • Maintaining case calendars and updating case-management systems
  • Drafting and reviewing complaints, answers, motions, responses, and other pleadings
  • Preparing discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
  • Conducting legal research involving case law, statutes, procedural rules, and issues relevant to active matters
  • Researching and preparing support for motions, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and motions in limine
  • Communicating directly with clients regarding case developments, strategy, expectations, and next steps
  • Communicating with opposing counsel regarding scheduling, discovery, depositions, negotiation, and settlement
  • Coordinating with experts, investigators, consultants, and other advisers
  • Preparing for and attending hearings, depositions, mediations, case-management conferences, and trials
  • Filing pleadings and motions through the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal
  • Maintaining accurate time entries, when applicable

Candidates must have:

  • Admission to practice law in the State of Florida
  • A current Florida Bar license
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • The ability to manage a full caseload
  • The ability to balance multiple matters, priorities, and deadlines
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive client matters
  • A dependable and collaborative approach to client service

Two years of litigation experience, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
